  • FORMATIVE YEARS 1994 – 1995
    - Sections Board of SAE International identified India as one of the priority countries.
    - Murli M. Iyer arranged the 1st Presidential visit consisting of Mr. John Leinonen, SAE 1995 President and Mr. Max C Rumvaugh, Junior Executive Vice President, SAE International.
    - SAE Presidential Delegation held discussion with the Indian Automotive industry – Dr K Kumar and Dr Pawan Goenka were the architects of this visit.
    - Pawan Goenka helped establish Western India Section in Pune.
  • PERIOD OF EMERGENCE 1996 – 1997
    - Agreement was signed with Institution of Associates of Engineers (IAE).
    - Presidential visit – Mr. Claude Verbal, SAE 1996 President..
    - Southern Section was established in Chennai
    - Northern Section was established in Delhi.
    - K. Kumar was appointed as Chairman of Northern Section.

  • PERIOD OF STABILIZATION 1998 – 1999
    - Presidential Visit -Dr. Ron Leonard, SAE International President 1988.
    SAEINDIA Sections Officers were trained at Pittsburgh in 1998 and 1999.
    - Eastern Section was established in Calcutta.
    - Inauguration of SAEINDIA Office in Chennai.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 1999 – 2001
    - Presidential Visit – Dr. Don Ableson, SAE 1999 President.
    - SAE-ACMA information center was established in Chennai.
    - Presidential Visit – Dr. Rodica A. Baranescu, SAE International 2000 President.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2002 – 2003
    - SAEINDIA was established in Chennai 2002.
    - 2002 SAEINDIA became an Affiliate Society of SAE International Dr. K. Kumar was elected as the 1st President of SAEINDIA.
    - Presidential Visit – Dr. S. M. Shahed, SAE 2002 President.
    - SAEINDIA Website was launched.
    - SAEINDIA Collegiate Clubs were also started their establishment.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2004 – 2005
    - R. Mahadevan was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - Presidential Visit – Dr. Jack E. Thompson SAE 2003 President.
    - SAEINDIA signed agreement with SIAM / ACMA at AutoExpo 2004.
    - SAEINDIA Mobility International Conference held at New Delhi in 2004.
    - Murli M. Iyer conducted the 1st Section Officers Leadership Skill seminar in 2004.
    - Bangalore Section was established in Bangalore.
    - Presidential Visit – Mr.Duane Tiede, SAE 2004 International President.
    - Presidential Visit – J. E.”Ted” Robertson, PE SAE 2005 International President.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2006 – 2008
    - Pawan Goenka was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - 1st BAJA SAEINDIA was conducted in 2006.
    1st AWIM SAEINDIA was conducted in 2006
    - A World In Motion (AWIM) Int Introduced on all India based.
    - SAEINDIA Mobility International Conference was held at New Delhi in 2008 by SAE Northern India Section.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2008 – 2010
    - R. Dayal was elected as Chairman of SAENIS Governing Board
    - M.S.Kumar was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - Presidential Visit – Dr. Richard Schuam, SAE 2007 President.
    - Presidential Visit – Dr. Thomas W. Ryan III, SAE 2008 President.
    - Presidential Visit – Dr. James E. Smith, SAE 2009 President.
    - SAE Northern India New Office was established at Gurgaon.
    - EFFICYCLE Competition for Students was started in 2009
    - SUPRA SAEINDIA was Launched.
    - AEROSPACE BOARD was established in 2009
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2010 – 2012
    - Mr I V Rao was elected Chairman of SAENIS.
    - R. Dayal was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - Off Highway Board was established in 2010.
    - Presidential Visit – Dr.Andy Brown, SAE 2010 President..
    - Presidential Visit – Richard E Kleine, SAE 2011 President.
    - First Training Program on AWIM Design Experience Challenge on Skimmer Activity, Gravity Cruiser & Motorize
    Toy Car by Dr. Mat Miller, SAE International attended by trainers from All sections.
    - AWIM National Olympics 12th & 13th November 2011 at Jamia Millia University
    - Student & Members meet with SAE International President at Delhi.
    - First SAE NIS Newsletter released
    - BAJA SAEINDIA 2011 - NIS Scrutiny, Total 80 teams, 23 from SAENIS, shortlisted for final competition in January 2011.
    - Seminar on “Meeting the Design & Testing Challenges – CO2 Reduction via Hybridization & Electrification”
    - Faculty Industry Education (FINE) program was launched at Pune in 2011.
    - Automobile Board was established in 2012.
    - SAEINDIA International Mobility Congress & Exposition held at New Delhi in 2012.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2012 – 2014
    - Mr I V Rao was re-elected Chairman of SAENIS Governing Board.
    - Shrikant Marathe was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR ON “DRIVING TO CLEANER AIR AROUND THE WORLD” was organized
    - First Student Convention at Delhi in 2012 at Indira Gandhi Technical University for Women
    - First SAENIS - TRIZ workshop held in August 2013
    - First ever Seminar on " Future Trends in Robotics , Spot Welding & Cutting Tools"
    - First Student Convention launched in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan
    - SAENIS Website and SAENIS Newsletter launched.
    - SAEINDIA International Mobility Conference & Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress (SIMCOMVEC) was held at Chennai in 2013.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2014 – 2016
    - Mr C V Raman was elected as Chairman of SAENIS Governing Board.
    - A 2 Day Conference on “Fuels, Lubricants, Emissions and After-treatment Devices - The Road Ahead” was held in April 2015 with 223 paid participants
    - SAEINDIA International Mobility Congress & Exposition held at New Delhi in 2016
    - Student Conventions held in Jaipur, Ghaziabad, Dehradun and Gurgaon
    - Aravind S Bharadwaj was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - Presidential Visit – Mr. Daniel M. Hancock, SAE 2014 President to Delhi.
    - Seminar on "India Altair Technology Conference Series" started
    - 1st Presidential Policies Deployment Meet of SAEINDIA was held at Pune in 2014.
    - SAE International President, Dr Richard Greaves, Visited Tagore International School, CCA School in 2014
    - Automotive Round Table (ART) was organised by SAEINDIA in 2014.
    - Blue Ribbon CXO Conclave (BRCC) was organised by SAEINDIA in 2014.
    - 1st Live Transmission of International seminar 6 locations across India was started in 2015.
    - MOU Signed with Lovely Professional University, Phagwara for Hosting Efficycle 2015 which continued till 2019
    - Student Conventions held in Jaipur, Patiala and Gurgaon
    - 1st edition of eBAJA SAEINDIA was launched by SAEINDIA in 2015.
    - India’s 1st International Transportation Electrification Conference (iTEC INDIA) was organised by SAEINDIA in 2015 in Delhi.
    - 1st SAE International Board of Director’s Meet was organised by SAEINDIA at Chennai in 2015.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2016 – 2018
    - Mr C V Raman was re-elected as Chairman SAENIS Governing Board.
    - Dr R.K.Malhotra was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - SAE International Presidential Visit – Mr. Cuneyt Oge to Delhi
    - Automotive Student Orientation program (aSOP) was Launched at Chennai in 2016.
    - Second Presidential Policies Deployment meet organised by SAEINDIA in 2017 in Delhi
    - 1st Two Wheeler Conclave was launched at New Delhi in 2016.
    - Student Conventions held in Ajmer, Faridabad, Jaipur, Gurgaon
    - SAEINDIA conducted Automotive Electronics Conference with CII in 2016.
    - Launch of SAEINDIA Skill India Initiative (S2I2) in 2017.
    - SAE International PDP Director Visited India in 2017.
    - ISFL - SAENIS workshop on 18th Oct 2016 on "Fuels, Lubricants & Emissions : BS IV to BS VI" organised by IOCL R&D
    - SAE International Presidential Visit – Mr. Douglas Patton, SAE 2017 President..
    - AWIM Nationals 2017 held at Delhi
    - Automotive Round Table : Getting Ready for BS 6 organised in Gurgaon in July 2017
    - 1st Edition of BAJA SAEINDIA – II was conducted at Ropar in 2018.

  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2018 – 2020
    - Mr Dinesh Kumar Tyagi elected as Chairman SAE Northern India Section
    - Dr. Bala K. Bharadvaj was elected as President of SAEINDIA.
    - First ever Four Year Rolling Plan for SAENIS developed
    - Conducted First Conference on “Think-Tank for Thermal Management Systems” (TTTMS) at Delhi in association with Subros Ltd followed by second one at Jaisalmer in May 2019
    - First Summer School on Automotive Technology conducted in July 2018 in association with IOCL R&D followed by second one at G L Bajaj Engineering College, Greater Noida
    - SAENIS in association with ICAT organised “I-Connect, Construction & Agricultural Vehicles Standards Roadmap and Test Requirements”
    - Organised a Toptech Seminar "Automotive Megatrends" in association with Ansys
    - Student Conventions organised in Ghaziabad, Jaipur
    - Four Technical Lectures series started in Efficycle 2018 and continued in 2019 in different sections
    - Organised First 3rd International EV Conclave and International Symposium On Lighting (ISOL-2019) in association with ICAT
    - Organised in association with ICAT Conference on : “Advance Powertrains for Mobility and Power Generation Application”
    - 8 Teams ( Highest Ever) from SAENIS participated in AWIM 209 Nationals at Chennai
    - 10th Year of Efficycle Competition was celebrated in 2019 at LPU Phagwara
    - First Virtual Efficycle 2020 Competition was organised in 2020
    - First Virtual TTTMS Conference and Summer Scholl on Automotive Technology conducted in 2020
    - SAEINDIA Conducted 1st Tractor Design Challenge (TDC) at Chennai in 2018.
    - Launched 1st In- country Edition of MOBILITY ENGINEERING Magazine.
    - 37th edition of FISITA 2018 World Congress was organised in CHENNAI in 2018.
    - Conducted 1st Bicycle Design Competition (BDC) at Erode in 2019.
    - All Logos of SAEINDIA were standardized in 2020.
  • PERIOD OF CONSOLIDATION 2020 – 2022 in view of Pandemic due to COVID
    - New Website of SAENIS launched in March 2022 making it a marketing and membership tool, not just a repository of information.
    - EFFICYCLE 2020 was organised virtually
    - Third and Fourth TTTMS Thermal Management Conference and Third Summer School in Automotive Technology organised virtually
    - EFFICYCLE 2021 organised virtually in Dec 2021
    - First Virtual MASTER TEACHERS TRAINING PROGRAM under AWIM organised virtually in Aug 2021
    - Student Convention organised at KIET Ghaziabad in March 2020
    - Big thrust given in enrolling SAEINDIA Members resulting in SAENIS crossing the Four Figure Mark for first time and becoming no 2 All India
    - Another first is “Motion in Control – India Vehicle Handling Conference 2021 with demonstration of Technology on Test Track at ICAT from 17th to 21st Nov 21 followed by a Virtual conference from 1st to 4th Dec 2021.
    - India’s First Futuristic Mobility Competition for Students AUTONOM 2021 -Autonomous Vehicle Technology Challenge launched in Sept 2021 under Indian Driving Conditions
